Latest Updates from Our Project:

Closing in on 100 backers
almost 4 years ago – Thu, Jun 25, 2020 at 11:31:25 PM

I've mentioned before how I prefer to track  backers instead of total amount raised. I'd prefer to think about the number of people I can affect rather than the amount of money that is on the table. I know that the average pledge is going to be higher than the minimum bid and less than the maximum, so it all works out in the end.

As of this writing, we are at 91 backers. That ain't too bad for this size of project. But I'd like to see us get to 100 backers before 6:00 pm Friday. That is only 9 backers. If we can get it there, then I will include one free greater healing potion token to every backer who receives a shipment.

What is a potion token? It is a 50mm diameter wood coin that has a potion on one side and the name of the potion on the other. You hand it out to your players and when they drink it, they hand it back.

Here is a pic of one in maple, but you could get one in cherry, cedar, or other woods that I have scrap pieces to make them from.

This is an easy little stretch goal...we only need 9 backers in the next 25 hours, so tell a friend to jump on board today!

Last night I had a dream....
almost 4 years ago – Wed, Jun 24, 2020 at 12:57:23 PM

True story here.

Last night I had a dream. It as about this Kickstarter. We were down to the last day and the project was going well, but it hadn't gone viral. I'm watching the project and we get down to the last half hour and then BOOM! everyone started joining in. The last half hour was a mad-house and it soared to over $200,000! I had finally done it! I did the project that got thousands of backers (a number I track more than the amount of the pledges).

And then it hit me. Because so many people had joined in the last minutes of the campaign, my timeline still showed a very short delivery date and now I had thousands of orders that needed to all get done in just a couple months. I woke up in a cold sweat.

I guess this shows that a part of my brain is hopeful of that huge project. I want to have that type of success. But another part of my brain understands the work that type of success would entail.

So, I'm here asking you to help give my brain a break. Tell your friends about the project and encourage them to pledge. But tell them to pledge early; don't wait until the last second.  That way I can prepare shipping tiers. My brain will thank you.

I just put some ad buys in with Facebook and RPGGeek, so I'm hoping some traffic will visit through there. If you happen to get a FB ad, please be sure to share it so that it gets maximum exposure.

Thanks to everyone for backing.

Blood Hunters
almost 4 years ago – Tue, Jun 23, 2020 at 06:25:20 AM

I worked today on the Blood Hunter templates. There is so much to track with these that I didn't put a graphic on; I'm not sure one will fit well. I'm not familiar with these classes, so I'd appreciate any comments before I finalize them.

Also, the previous cards are now available to choose from. This includes the Wizard: Necromancer, Wizard: Bladesinger, and Artificer.

Workshop Walkthrough
almost 4 years ago – Sun, Jun 21, 2020 at 06:52:26 PM

I've spent the past 3 weeks working on my new workshop. It was in a pole building we have on an adjacent lot to our house, but after a lot of thought and procrastination, I decided to move it to the 2nd floor of our garage. So, I got one of the dryads to help me out, we cleaned out the upstairs, insulated, ran electric, vented the roof (still need to finish that up) made a finishing room and moved in the tools. All in all, I think it looks pretty good. We did a little walk-through video that is pretty boring, but lets you see inside.

The room to the right that you catch a glimpse of is a finishing room. I'll probably need to get a fan that fits a window well to get some good venting going. Inside the workshop, you can see the miter saw, a sanding station, cnc router, table saw, lathe, a couple rolling workbenches and the wood racks. I'll be adding a benchtop planer (selling my big Powermatic planer if anyone is interested).

Finishing room
Drill press and CNC

It is all still a little disorganized, but it is probably the cleanest it will ever be.

Tomorrow, we start getting back into production.

New Cards up for review
almost 4 years ago – Sat, Jun 20, 2020 at 08:27:44 PM

As promised, here are three new character cards that have been requested. I am not really familiar with these classes, so they are up for review and input.

Artificer

Based on my reading, the Artificer has spell slots up to 5th level. They can tinker and infuse items up to their intelligence modifier, so you can use a d6 to track those. Likewise at 7th level you gain Flash of Genius up to your INT modifier. Spell storage at 11th level uses up to 2x your INT modifier, so the hole shape can use a d12 (or d20) to count down the number of charges left.

I got a nice cog image which I thought fit well with an Artificer.

Wizard: Bladesinger

The Bladesinger seemed pretty easy.  Normal spells and up to 2 uses of Bladesong. You can use any die in the holes to denote those abilities and simply remove them as they are used.

Wizard: Necromancer

So, Necromancer gave me a little turn. I looked up online on how many creatures a necro can control and there were theories out there where you could conceivably control thousands of Skeletons and Zombies. After considering the *intent* of the spells and the likelihood that a necro would spend all his slots every day to maintain control over his undead army, I decided to break it down into the two spells that would most likely be used: Animate Dead and Create Undead.

Animate dead has two slots, allowing you to use d10s (or any other dice, really) to note how many skeletons/zombies were under control. With normal dice, you could actually track the number of controlled undead up to 209 with a d20 and a d10 (or I suppose 2020 with 2d20s) Create undead is much more limiting, being a higher level spell and seems to only require a single slot where you could use a d6 or maybe a d8  if multiple spells are cast at 7th+ levels.

I also found a cool skull to use as the symbol, which I think looks pretty good.

Let me know what you think. Did I miss anything? I've never played these classes before, so it is quite possible that I'm missing something.
